European Commission set to visit India to discuss trade with PM Modi.
A full delegation of the European Commission will be in India for two days (February 27-28) to hold a plenary session with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss trade, economic security and resilient supply chains. The second meeting of the EU-India Trade and Technology Council (TTC) will be held during this visit, with discussions covering clean technologies, digital infrastructure and the compatibility of trade systems.

India, UK to resume FTA talks after one-year gap.
India and the UK will resume negotiations this week for a free trade agreement (FTA) after a hiatus of almost a year, with British trade minister Jonathan Reynolds travelling to New Delhi to meet his Indian counterpart Piyush Goyal. After launching the negotiations in January 2022, the two sides held 14 rounds of talks before the process was suspended in May 2024, ahead of general elections in both countries. The two sides had initially set an ambitious target of concluding the negotiations by October 2022 but have faced difficulties in closing the gap on issues such as tariffs, market access and mobility of professionals.

Govt working out scheme to prevent distress sale of farmers' produce: Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday said the government is working out measures to ensure that farmers do not have to sell their produces, especially fruits and vegetables, at throwaway prices. Speaking after inaugurating the 'Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela' 2025 -- being held in the national capital from February 22-24 -- he emphasised the need to take new seeds varieties and farm technologies from labs to agriculture filed at the earliest.

Tibetan Agriculture Conference kicks off in Karnataka, focuses on sustainable farming practices and self-sufficiency.
The Tibetan Agriculture Conference, hosted by the Department of Home (CTA), began yesterday at the Organic Research and Training Center (ORTC) located in Bylakuppe, Karnataka, with Sikyong Penpa Tsering, the current Kalon (Minister) of the Home Department, serving as the chief guest. According to a report by Central Tibet Administration (CTA), this conference is taking place from 20 to 22 February 2025, which aims to tackle the agricultural issues faced by Tibetan settlements and to examine sustainable farming practices.

India has no plans to import wheat for now - Piyush Goyal.
India does not plan to import wheat and its farmers are likely to harvest a bumper crop that will boost stockpiles in the world's second-biggest producer of the staple, the trade minister said on Saturday. 'Ground reports indicate that the crop is quite good and this year's production is expected at a record 114 million metric tons,' Piyush Goyal told reporters.
