The storage in India’s 161 major reservoirs continued to be over 90 per cent of the capacity this week, with one in every three dams brimming, data from the Central Water Commission (CWC) showed. CWC’s weekly bulletin on the storage position in the major reservoirs showed that two in three major reservoirs were filled over 90 per cent of the capacity, though the level in 13 was below 40 per cent this week.

An Indonesian team is scheduled to visit India this month-end to end the impasse over the suspension of Indian groundnut imports by Jakarta. Indonesia suspended the import of groundnuts from India from September 3, following a notification issued on August 27. The suspension followed reports of the presence of aflatoxins, seen as molds in grains and oilseeds, in Indian groundnuts.

Russia, one of the world’s major exporters of sunflower oil, said on Friday it has extended export duties on sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, and meal for another two seasons to encourage domestic processing. 'The decision is aimed at stimulating the processing of oilseeds within the country, maintaining stable pricing on the domestic food market, and ensuring the availability of sunflower oil for the population and sunflower meal for the livestock industry,' a government statement said.

India has brought 52,113 hectares under oil palm cultivation so far this financial year, with most expansion in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, a senior government official said on Friday. The addition brings the total oil palm area under the National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) scheme to 2,41,000 hectares since its launch in August 2021, with nationwide coverage now at 6,00,000 hectares.
