India will restore benefits under a key scheme that reimburses exporters for embedded duties, taxes, and levies not covered by any other government refund programme in an effort to boost export competitiveness, the trade ministry said on Tuesday. The benefits under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products were introduced on January 1, 2021, but ended on February 5 this year.

Air India transported close to 1,000 tonnes of Indian mangoes in April 2025 to destinations across Europe, North America, and the Middle East, according to an official release. The movement reflects rising global demand for Indian mango varieties during the summer export season. The Indian airline shipped popular types of mangoes, such as Alphonso from Maharashtra and Safeda and Dussehri from Uttar Pradesh. According to the company statement, over 75% of the mangoes originated in Western India and were delivered to 43 destinations in 31 countries.

May 28, 2025 News Image Govt allocates Rs 18,233 cr under RoDTEP scheme for exporters for 2025-26.
The government has allocated Rs 18,233 crore under the export benefit scheme RoDTEP in the current financial year for over 10,750 product categories, an official statement said on Tuesday. As of March 31, 2025, total disbursements under the RoDTEP scheme have crossed Rs 57,976.78 crore. The government also said that the benefits under the scheme for exports of goods manufactured in special economic zones and export-oriented units are restored from June 1 this year.

India is seeking improved access to the US for its fruit and vegetable exports, according to a report from Indian business publication Mint. Amid ongoing discussion for a bilateral trade agreement (BTA) between the two coutnries, sources told Mint that India wanted amendments to the US sanitary and phytosanitary regulations that have caused fresh produce shipments from India to be rejected. Most recently, this happened to a shipment of 25 tonnes of Indian mangoes, which was rejected and destroyed in the US causing a loss of about US$500,000 to exporters.
