To complete London trade Bridge, Piyush Goyal set to visit UK again soon.
Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal may travel to London again later this week in an attempt to resolve the four-five thorny issues that still remain and announce the conclusion of negotiations for the India-UK free trade agreement (FTA), people in the know of the development said. The minister was in the UK Monday and Tuesday when an announcement on the FTA was expected.

Indian trade deal talks moving well, much easier to negotiate with India: US Treasury Secretary Bessent.
The US is 'The US is 'very close' on a trade deal with India, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Tuesday, noting that it is much easier to negotiate with Delhi because of the high tariffs and talks with the country are 'moving well.' Bessent made these remarks at a press briefing in the White House. Earlier, on Monday, he told CNBC that India is likely to be among the first countries to finalise a bilateral trade agreement with the US to avert reciprocal tariffs.

Commerce Min seeks exporters' views on schemes under export promotion plan.
The commerce ministry has sought views of export promotion councils (EPCs) on the different schemes which the government is framing under the export promotion mission announced in the Union Budget, an industry official said. The councils will have to submit their comments by tomorrow to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the official said.

Luke Lindberg said he’s excited to build on the administration’s efforts to secure a trade deal with India and expressed concern about a '$23.6 billion trade deficit' with the European Union during a Senate Agriculture Committee hearing considering his nomination as USDA’s under secretary for trade and foreign agricultural affairs.

Japan supermarket rice prices up for 16th straight week, imports seen jumping.
Japanese supermarket rice prices rose for the 16th straight week and doubled from a year ago, the agriculture ministry said on Monday, despite the government's release of the staple grain from its emergency stockpile to lower prices. In the week to April 20, prices rose 3 yen from the previous week to average 4,220 yen ($29.38) per 5 kg, the data showed.

FSSAI launches new digital tool for consumers to report misleading claims on labels.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on Wednesday said that it has has introduced a new digital utility tool that will enable consumers to directly report misleading claims made on food product labels. It said this move is aligned with its Advertisement and Claims Monitoring Committee and will strengthen ground-level vigilance. 'Consumers can now lodge complaints regarding misleading or false claims displayed on packaged food items through the Food Safety Connect mobile application or via Food Safety Compliance System. This initiative is part of FSSAI’s ongoing efforts to promote transparency, protect consumer rights and strengthen food safety regulations in the country,' it said in an official statement.

Donald Trump says tariff talks with India going great, expects a trade deal soon.
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that talks with India on tariffs were going great and that according to him the two countries would reach a trade deal soon, reported Reuters. Ahead of a rally in Michigan, the President told reporters outside the White House that he also planned to visit Africa and hold talks with Australian officials during the 90-day pause on tariffs.
