As trade talks gather pace, Indian team extends stay in US.
India's trade team has extended its stay in Washington to iron out differences as the two sides look to clinch a deal before a July 9 deadline when higher US tariffs are set to kick in, people familiar with the matter said. The in-person negotiations were initially supposed to run through June 27 but were extended by a day, raising hopes of an interim trade deal. Both sides have dug in their heels over a few key issues including Washington's demand that India open its market to genetically modified crops.

India Flags Off First Consignment of Rose-Scented Litchi from Pathankot to Qatar.
In a significant boost to India’s horticultural exports, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of Punjab, facilitated the flag-off of the first consignment of 1 metric tonne of rose-scented litchi from Pathankot, Punjab to Doha, Qatar on 23rd June 2025.

Piyush Goyal to meet exporters on June 30 amid global tensions.
Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal will meet exporters and industry representatives on June 30 to discuss issues related to India's goods and services exports amid the tensions in West Asia and New Delhi's ongoing trade pact talks with the developed countries. Last month, India's goods exports declined by 2.17% year-on-year to $38.73 billion, breaking a two-month streak of growth, while the trade deficit narrowed to $21.88 billion. The government is targeting $900 billion in goods and services exports in the current fiscal year FY26.

India has set $1 billion turmeric export target by 2030: Union Minister Amit Shah.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the Centre has set a target of achieving USD one billion in turmeric exports by 2030. Addressing a gathering after the inauguration of the National Headquarters of Turmeric Board in Nizamabad, he said the board would focus on packing, branding, marketing and export of the commodity.

India, US push for trade pact as deadline nears.
Hectic discussions are ongoing between India and the US to clinch a trade pact ahead of the July 9 deadline when the 90-day pause period for Washington's retaliatory tariffs comes to an end. Indian and American trade negotiators have managed to find closure on many issues, and Indian trade officials have extended their visit to the US to conclude the talks.

Output of farm sector rises to Rs 29.49 lakh crore in FY24: Govt data.
The Gross Value of Output (GVO) from the agriculture and allied sector increased 54.6 per cent during FY12 to FY24 to Rs 29.49 lakh crore at constant prices, National Statistics Office (NSO) said on Friday. The NSO, part of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), has released the annual publication of 'Statistical Report on Value of Output from Agriculture and Allied Sectors (2011-12 to 2023-24)'.

Sugar production to increase by 15 pc to 35 million tonnes in SS 26 on favourable monsoon: Report.
Sugar output is likely to increase by 15 per cent in sugar season 2025-26 to about 35 million tonnes on a favourable monsoon, a report said on Friday. India's gross sugar production is likely to rise 15 per cent in sugar season 2026 to about 35 million tonnes, aided by above-average monsoon, boosting cane acreage and yields in key sugar-producing states like Maharashtra and Karnataka, Crisil Ratings said in the report.

Livestock & fishing fuel agriculture growth, shows govt report.
The livestock and fishing segments have become increasingly significant within India's agriculture sector, according to a government report released on Friday. The share of livestock in the overall agriculture and allied sectors rose to 31.2% in 2023-24 from 25.6% in 2011-12, while fishing and aquaculture's share expanded to 7% from 4.2% over the same period.
