Israel envoy, Hry CM discuss mutual cooperation on agri and AI.
Israeli ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, paid a courtesy visit to Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini at his official residence in Chandigarh on Thursday. During the meeting, they discussed mutual cooperation and several other important subjects. 'Haryana and Israel will work together in various sectors such as research, healthcare, agricultural technology, advanced irrigation systems and artificial intelligence,' the CM said. The chief minister stated that there was a focus on establishing a Centre of Excellence in Haryana.

Centre Amends 2011 Edible Oil Regulation to Strengthen Supply Chain, Stabilise Prices.
Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, has amended the Vegetable Oil Products, Production and Availability (Regulation) Order, 2011 to improve transparency and ensure a steady supply of edible oils across the country. The amendment aims to strengthen data collection and enable faster policy decisions in the edible oil sector, which is crucial for ensuring food security and price stability.

Govt may focus on extending support measures to sectors hit hard by US tariffs.
The government may prioritise support measures for sectors, like textiles and chemicals, which would be severely impacted by the US tariffs, under the export promotion mission, industry sources said on Thursday. The issues were discussed in the commerce ministry's consultations with exporters from the textiles and chemicals sectors to assess the impact and explore possible support measures, they added.

Schemes to Incentivize Food Processing Units.
In order to incentivize setting up/expansion of Food Processing infrastructure, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing two Central Sector Schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI). Further, a Centrally sponsored scheme namely PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme is also being implemented by MoFPI.

Over 1.46 Lakh Applications Received Under PMFME Scheme in FY 2024-25 Till June.
Two lakh micro food processing enterprises are targeted for credit linked subsidy under Centrally Sponsored 'Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme' in the country over a period from 2020-21 to 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs. 10,000 crores.

Philippines delegation agrees to boost food imports from India: IREF.
A high-level delegation from the Philippines has discussed with APEDA and the Indian Rice Exporters Federation to boost imports of key Indian food products, an industry official said on Wednesday. The agreement includes a commitment from the Philippines to prioritise increased imports of essential items from India, such as rice, buffalo meat, vegetables, fruits, and peanuts, Indian Rice Exporters Federation Chairman Prem Garg said in a statement.

UK–India FTA reimagines global trade post-Brexit.
India will phase out tariffs on 90% of UK exports — including iconic products like Scotch whisky, luxury cars, cosmetics, and medical devices. Whisky duties drop from 150% to 75% immediately, reducing further to 40% over the next decade. UK cars, once taxed at over 100%, now gain quota-based access at just 10%.

World’s Top Rice Buyer Philippines Halts Imports for 60 Days.
The Philippines will suspend rice imports for 60 days from Sept. 1 to support local farmers, a move that could further pressure global prices as the top buyer of the grain pulls back from the market. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued the order to protect farmers reeling from low paddy rice prices during the harvest currently underway, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez said in a statement on Wednesday.

FSSAI And Ministry Of Ayush Release Definitive List Of Ayurveda Aahara Products.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, has unveiled a comprehensive list of Ayurvedic food preparations classified under 'Ayurveda Aahara' as part of the Food Safety and Standards (Ayurveda Aahara) Regulations, 2022. This landmark initiative integrates India’s ancient dietary wisdom into modern regulatory frameworks, offering clarity to consumers and Food Business Operators (FBOs) while promoting the adoption of traditional Ayurvedic nutrition for enhanced public health.
