Kerala Agri varsity to flag off exports from its new common incubation centre.
In a significant stride towards fostering agripreneurship and food innovation, Kerala Agricultural University has established the Common Incubation Centre at the KAU Raftaar Agri Business Incubator in Vellanikkara, Thrissur. The facility, which is to be inaugurated on August 12, has been set up under the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in which the Ministry has given Rs.2.75 crore.

Govt focusing on 50 countries to boost exports.
The government is working on measures to boost India's exports, including targeting 50 countries in regions such as the Middle East and Africa, amid the heavy tariffs imposed by the US on Indian goods, an official said on Monday. These 50 countries account for about 90 per cent of India's exports.

UK-India trade deal retains tariffs on poultry and eggs.
India has lower animal welfare standards than in the UK, allowing barren battery cages for laying hens – a farming practice that has been banned in the UK since 20212. But the deal includes the Indian government halving tariff reductions on whisky and gin – from 150% to 75% – before reducing them further to 40% by year 10. It also covers tariffs on salmon, chocolate, biscuits, and lamb.

MoFPI disburses Rs 5,620 crore under flagship food processing schemes to strengthen rural economy.
In order to incentivise setting up/expansion of Food Processing infrastructure, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), is implementing two Central Sector Schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI). Further, a Centrally sponsored scheme namely PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme is also being implemented by MoFPI.

India can't cross certain red lines: Top officials to Parliamentary panel on trade negotiations with US.
Top officials of the central government, involved in tariff negotiations with the US, suggested that it is a tough phase in trade relations and there are some red lines which India cannot cross, while asserting that India is committed to engage constructively to resolve all outstanding issues with the US through dialogue and mutual respect.

The central government is strengthening farmer-friendly policies and a technology-based transparent system. In this regard, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a historic crop insurance claim disbursement event is being organised on 11 August 2025 in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. This programme will be chaired by Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, with Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma as the Chief Guest.

Odisha exports dragon fruits to Dubai.
After entering international markets last year, dragon fruits from Odisha have once again reached global markets continuing their second year. Balangir district of Odisha exported 330 kg of dragon fruits to Dubai on Friday. Cultivated in Patnagarh of Odisha, the fruit was sold at Rs. 300 a kg, a 20 per cent increase from last year’s rate of Rs. 50 a kg.

Ministry of Food Processing Industries today organized Ambassadors’ Meet at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, to discuss overseas participation in the World Food India (WFI) 2025. The fourth edition of 'World Food India’ is being organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, from 25 – 28 September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event will showcase Indian Food Processing Sector, with collaborations and investments from global Stakeholders.

Corrective steps to address structural challenges in Agriculture.
The Government is implementing National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) to make Indian Agriculture a sustainable production system. Several schemes have been initiated under NMSA to achieve resilience in Agriculture. Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) scheme increases water use efficiency at the farm level through micro irrigation technologies i.e. drip and sprinkler irrigation systems. Rainfed Area Development focuses on Integrated Farming System for enhancing productivity and minimizing risks associated with climatic variability.
