An Indian trade delegation has reached Washington for fresh talks on a trade deal with the United States, two Indian government sources said on Monday. India’s chief trade negotiator, Rajesh Agrawal, is expected to leave on Tuesday to join the talks, said one of the sources, who declined to be named because they were not authorised to speak to the media.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, addressed the National One District One Product (ODOP) 2024 Award ceremony in New Delhi today. He said that the Commerce Ministry will work with districts to promote first time exporters to newer markets. He mentioned that the Ministry will soon be coming out with more guidelines on how new markets, new products, and new exporters can be promoted. He said that the Commerce Ministry and the districts can partner to promote ODOP products to newer markets and support first time exporters.

In a major step towards strengthening India’s position in global horticulture trade, the National Horticulture Board (NHB) and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote Indian horticultural produce in international markets. The MoU signing took place in the esteemed presence of Priya Ranjan, Joint Secretary (Horticulture), Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) and Managing Director, NHB, and Abhishek Dev, Chairman, APEDA.

Negotiations with the US are going at a 'very fast pace and in the spirit of mutual cooperation' to come out with a win-win trade complementing agreement, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said Monday. His statement came amid Indian trade negotiators reaching Washington for another round of talks on the proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA), which will begin Monday, an official said. The four-day talks are likely to be held on all 19 chapters of the trade pact.

Governor and Chancellor of Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University, S. Abdul Nazeer, said that Andhra Pradesh stands fifth in horticulture production nationally, contributing 16.07% to the State’s Gross Value Added (GVA). Speaking at the sixth convocation of the university held at Atkur village in Unguturu mandal, Krishna district, the Governor highlighted the State’s transformation into a major horticultural hub. He noted that Andhra Pradesh produces a wide range of crops including cashew, mango, chilli, cocoa, oil palm, papaya, tomato, lime, and sweet orange.
