TAFE, ICRISAT join hands to launch adaptive agriculture research centre in Hyderabad.
Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to establish the ‘JFarm Adaptive Agriculture Research & Extension Centre’ at the ICRISAT campus in Hyderabad. TAFE inaugurated JFarm in 1964 as a CSR initiative to empower farmers through research-driven solutions and training. With expansions in Bhawanimandi (2016), and through public–private partnerships, JFarm established the ‘JFarm and Product Training Centre’ with PJTSAU, Telangana (2019) and the ‘JFarm and Mechanisation Centre’ with VNMKV, Maharashtra (2023).

India's exports to US rise 23%, imports dip 10% in June.
India's goods exports to the US rose by 23.53 per cent to USD 8.3 billion in June while imports dipped by 10.61 per cent to about USD 4 billion during the month, according to the commerce ministry data. During April-June, the country's exports to the US increased by 22.18 per cent to USD 25.51 billion, while imports rose 11.68 per cent to USD 12.86 billion, the data showed.

Next round of India-EU talks on proposed trade pact in September.
India and the European Union (EU) will hold the next round of negotiations on the proposed free trade agreement (FTA) in September here as both sides have exchanged offers related to the services sectors last week, an official said on Tuesday. L Satya Srinivas, Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce, said the last (12th) round of talks concluded last week in Brussels.

India expecting some kind of conclusion on trade pact review with Asean: Official.
India is expecting to reach some kind of conclusion on the review negotiations of the existing free trade agreement in goods with the 10-nation Asean bloc before the Asean-India Summit, scheduled for October, a government official said on Tuesday. Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce Rajesh Agrawal said that the 10th and 11th rounds of talks between the two sides are likely in August in the national capital and in October in Malaysia.

India was a net importer of maize in 2024-25 despite record output.
India’s maize imports touched a record 9.7 lakh tonnes during financial year 2024-25, a six-fold increase over 1.37 lakh tonnes in 2023-24. The country became a net importer of maize during the year on rising demand for the cereal from key consuming sectors such as livestock feed, starch and ethanol, even as the exports have slowed down considerably.

West Bengal to expand maize cultivation by 60,000 hectares to meet rising feed demand.
The West Bengal government has decided to expand the area under maize cultivation by 60,000 hectares over the next three years to meet the growing demand for animal feed, poultry feed, and fish feed in the state. This was announced by Arup Roy, the state minister in charge of the Department of Food Processing Industries and Horticulture at the Agri, Livestock and Food Processing Growth Meet organised by ASSOCHAM.

The cumulative exports (merchandise & services) during April-June 2025 is estimated at US$ 210.31 Billion, as compared to US$ 198.52 Billion in April-June 2024, an estimated growth of 5.94%.
India’s total exports (Merchandise and Services combined) for June 2025* is estimated at US$ 67.98 Billion, registering a positive growth of 6.50 percent vis-à-vis June 2024. Total imports (Merchandise and Services combined) for June 2025* is estimated at US$ 71.50 Billion, registering a positive growth of 0.50 percent vis-à-vis June 2024.

EU eyes deeper trade ties with India, Asia-Pacific amid looming US tariffs.
The European Union is looking to deepen trade agreements with India and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region as the bloc braces for US tariffs, a top official said. 'We need to explore how far, how deep we can go in the Pacific area with other countries,' EU competition chief Teresa Ribera said on Bloomberg TV on Monday. 'For instance, these conversations that are ongoing with India are quite important,' she said, referring to free-trade talks with the South Asian nation expected to be completed by year’s end.

Gujarat tops in production and export of processed potatoes in India.
Gujarat recorded a total production of 48.59 lakh tonnes of potatoes in the 2024–25 season, which includes varieties cultivated for processing into French fries and wafers, officials said on Monday. The State has emerged as the top producer of processed potatoes in India, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

Govt envisions BIMSTEC Pact as blueprint to transform Bay of Bengal into global trade hub: Sonowal.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday said the government envisions the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Pact as a blueprint to transform the Bay of Bengal into a global trade and tourism hub. According to an official statement, the Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) minister also said that joint feasibility studies of port-linked industrial zones will be launched soon.
