Oilmeal exports flat in H1 2025-26, despite 40% increase in September.
Overall oilmeals exports from India remained flat during the first six months of 2025-26, despite a 40 per cent increase in September 2025 compared with the same period a year ago. According to the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), overall exports remained flat at 20.93 lt during April-September 2025-26 against 20.82 lt in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, a marginal increase of 0.50 per cent.

India a bright spot in a fragmented global economy, but must deepen trade ties: IMF MD Kristalina Georgieva.
India remains one of the strongest pillars of global growth even as the world economy turns more unpredictable amid rising tariffs, uneven expansion, and the rapid advance of artificial intelligence (AI), International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said on Thursday. Answering ET Online's query at an IMF press conference, Georgieva said, 'India is one of the fastest growing economies. Given its size, it contributes to global growth substantially. India is where it is because it has pursued very significant reforms—tax reform, investing in infrastructure, digital infrastructure, but also roads, connectivity in the country. That has injected this growth potential.'

Finance Minister Sitharaman inaugurates pulse processing unit in Raichur, pledges support to farmers.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday assured farmers that the government will continue support to improve their income. She inaugurated the Farmers’ Training and Common Facility Centre in Karnataka’s Raichur district aimed at boosting the pulse value chain and empowering farmers.

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan holds high-level meeting regarding the resolution of farmers’ complaints.
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, conducted consecutive meetings at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi, reviewing the functioning of both ministries. During the meetings, the Union Minister also held a high-level discussion on the complaint portal. Senior officials, including Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi, were present at the meeting.

Russia plans large-scale banana imports from India.
Russia could import up to 500,000 metric tons of bananas from India, according to the country's phytosanitary watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor. The agency, responsible for approving imports of agricultural products, stated that India may expand its banana exports to the Russian market. In a press release, Rosselkhoznadzor said that Russia is ready to receive approximately 300,000–500,000 tons of Indian bananas per year. The statement followed a meeting between Rosselkhoznadzor head Sergei Dankvert and representatives of India's Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

India bans import of roasted areca nuts below Rs.351/kg, exemptions for EOUs and SEZs.
The government on Wednesday announced a ban on imports of roasted Areca nuts priced below Rs 351 per Kg. 'The import of roasted Areca nut, having CIF value less than Rs 351 per Kg is prohibited,' the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.

India expands FTA outreach; active trade talks underway with US, EU and Oman, says Piyush Goyal.
India has intensified efforts to deepen its trade ties with major economies, with several free trade agreements (FTAs) already implemented and negotiations progressing with key partners, including the United States, the European Union, and Oman, reported PTI, citing commerce minister Piyush Goyal as saying, on Thursday. The minister highlighted that India has successfully concluded trade pacts with developed nations such as Australia, the United Arab Emirates, and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) bloc, and has also signed an agreement with the United Kingdom.

Project Unnati Apple initiative supported by Anandana – The Coca-Cola India Foundation has helped many farmers in Uttarakhand adopt climate-resilient, high-yield apple cultivation, according to a media statement. Highlighting the success story of Basanti Bisht from Sunderkhal village in Uttarakhand, the statement said she was cultivating cabbage and wheat on her small plot of land a few years ago, often losing crops to wild animals and earning little in return.
