PM Modi inaugurates Rs 76.5-crore milk powder plant in Indore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually inaugurated a Rs 76.5-crore milk powder plant in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, as part of the government’s broader initiative to strengthen India’s agriculture, animal husbandry, and food processing sectors. The newly established facility, developed under the Indore Cooperative Milk Union with support from the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), has a production capacity of 30 tonnes of milk powder per day. The plant aims to boost milk processing efficiency, reduce wastage, and enhance the value chain for dairy farmers across the region.

Trade body urges entrepreneurs to boost domestic production, reduce imports.
S Babu Nagesh, joint director of the Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC), on Monday called upon industrialists and entrepreneurs to significantly reduce the import of foreign goods and prioritise increased domestic production for export. Delivering the keynote address after inaugurating a six-day export management training programme, organised by the VTPC and aimed at expanding the state's export sector, Nagesh stressed that market study is crucial for aspiring exporters.

Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurates the administrative building at ICAR–Indian Institute of Maize Research, Ludhiana.
Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today visited the Indian Council of Agricultural Research–Indian Institute of Maize Research (ICAR-IIMR) in Ludhiana, Punjab, during which he inaugurated the newly constructed administrative building and interacted with maize stakeholders, farmers, beneficiaries of rural development schemes, and members of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The Union Minister also addressed a press conference, highlighting key central government initiatives and development programmes for Punjab in the fields of agriculture and rural development.

‘Global spice industry projected to reach $41.9 billion by 2033’.
India reaffirmed its leadership in the global spice sector as the 8th Session of the Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) began in Guwahati. Organised by the Spices Board, the event has drawn around 81 delegates from 27 countries to deliberate on developing harmonised international standards for spices and culinary herbs.

TN Chief Minister requests PM Modi to provide support to the State in safeguarding mango farmers.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide necessary support to the State in developing infrastructure and safeguards the mango farmers and contribute to national economy through enhanced exports and value addition. On June 24, Stalin wrote a letter seeking the Centre’s intervention to alleviate the problems faced by mango farmers and processors during the mango season 2025.

Exports of chilled, frozen meat linked to payment to MEDF in APEDA.
Exports of chilled and frozen meat products will be allowed only after payment to the Meat Export Development Fund managed by the commerce ministry arm APEDA, according to a notification. The decision will come into effect from October 29, 2025.

Commerce secretary-led team heads to US for trade talks.
A team of Indian officials led by commerce secretary Rajesh Agarwal is once again headed to the US for talks on the proposed bilateral trade deal, amid indications that Trump administration is keen to move ahead. Officials indicated that delegation would visit Washington this week itself as the two sides seek to thrash out a deal in a few weeks. The move comes just a day after US ambassador-designate Sergio Gor met PM Modi and held discussions with Agrawal.

India, Taiwan urge WTO to delay ICT duties ruling as talks continue.
India and Taiwan on Tuesday requested the dispute settlement body (DSB) of the World Trade Organization to delay the adoption of a ruling against New Delhi's import duties on certain information and technology products till April 21, 2026, saying they are working on resolving the issue mutually. The WTO is set to take up the issue on October 24.

U.S. almond exports slows as Indian and Chinese demand drops.
The Almond Board of California (ABC) has released its September 2025 position report, showing total U.S. almond shipments of 197 million pounds, 8% lower than the same month last year and the smallest September volume since 2022. The result was broadly in line with market expectations, as surveys conducted by Expana forecasted between 190 million and 215 million pounds shipped.
