In India's Andhra Pradesh state, Rs 146.84 crore (US$17.6 million) has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 31,929 mango farmers in Chittoor district under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. District Collector Sumit Kumar announced the payments during a press briefing, confirming that the subsidies cover 3.67 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes produced this season. District Horticulture Officer Madhusudan Reddy was also present.

India, the world's largest cooking oil importer, should adopt a transparent and multi-year tariff framework for edible oils to end a decade of policy volatility that has destabilised prices and deterred investment, according to a new study. The country, which imports 60-65 per cent of its edible oil needs, has changed tariffs more than 25 times since 2015, creating uncertainty across the supply chain from international suppliers to consumers, the research said.
