The roadshow hosted by Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region aims to attract investment for the development of North East India.
The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) hosted the North East Trade and Investment Roadshow in Chennai on Wednesday. The roadshow evoked strong interest from potential investors who are eager to explore opportunities in the North Eastern States. The event was attended by the Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region & Ministry of Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, alongwith Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Hon'ble Minister of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Mizoram, senior officials from MDoNER, North Eastern Council and North Eastern States.

India now exports fruits and vegetables to 123 countries.
Thanks to the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority’s (APEDA) support schemes, India’s exports of fruits and vegetables have increased by 47.3 per cent in volume and 41.5 per cent in value terms over the last five years, beginning FY20. India also expanded the reach of its exports of fruits and vegetables to cover 123 countries. Fresh fruits and vegetables from India entered 17 new markets, including Brazil, Georgia, Papua New Guinea, Czech Republic, Uganda, Ghana etc, in the last three years.

e-NAM Platform expanded to boost agricultural trade with addition of 10 New commodities and their tradable parameters.
In response to the continuous demand from farmers, traders and other stakeholders for inclusion of more agricultural commodities, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India has decided to further expand the scope of trade under e-NAM. This initiative aims to increase the coverage of agricultural commodities and offer more opportunities for farmers and traders to benefit from the digital trading platform, Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) has formulated tradable parameters for 10 additional agricultural commodities. These new commodities parameters are a result of extensive consultation with key stakeholders, including state agencies, traders, subject matter specialists and SFAC and with approval from the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

APEDA’s financial assistance schemes boost 47.3% surge in India’s fruit and vegetable exports.
The Department of Commerce through Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) provides financial assistance to its member exporters of APEDA from across the country, for export promotion of its Scheduled products, including for Fruits & vegetables, under Agriculture and Processed Foods Export Promotion Scheme of APEDA for the 15th Finance Commission Cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26) in following three broad areas.

India’s coffee exports crossed $1 billion in 2024; Italy the top destination.
India’s coffee exports crossed $1 billion for the first time in the eleven months of the year, as exports to Europe nearly doubled, prompting even Prime Minister Narendra Modi to boast about India’s growing prowess in the coffee market. 'Today, I feel happy when, along with Indian tea, our coffee is also spreading its fragrance in the world. It is making a splash in the markets,' Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address in Lok Sabha.

Exporters encouraged to trade new rice varieties.
Aimed at promoting export opportunities for non-basmati rice varieties, Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute (ADAC&RI) here on Wednesday conducted a workshop for farmers, entrepreneurs, and exporters. Participants visited the sample paddy fields where the advantages of cultivating TRY3 and TRY5 rice varieties were explained.

Govt considering export of limited quantity specialty sugar.
The Government is considering the export of 15,000 tonnes of specialty sugar annually, which will not come under the purview of any restrictions, even if imposed. Currently, sugar export is allowed through a permit system issued by the Food Ministry, and there is no separate distinction made for specialty sugar, which are essentially valued-added products.

India’s agri subsidies must not exceed 10% of crop value under WTO, says Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
As a developing country, India can provide subsidies to agricultural sector through mechanisms such as Minimum Support Price (MSP). However, these subsidies must be within 10 per cent of the production value of the crop, and WTO (World Trade Organisation) must be notified about this support annually, said a reply by the government in Parliament.

Plan is to create separate agency to implement BharatTradeNet: DGFT.
The Budget announcement to set up BharatTradeNet as a unified platform for trade documentation and financing solutions is an ambitious proposal and there is a plan to create a not-for-profit company to implement this project, a senior government official said on Tuesday. Proposed on the lines of Unified Payments Interface (UPI), the platform will help in moving towards complete digitisation of the entire range of trade documentation and then allow seamless operability of different agencies whichare involved in this, Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Santosh Kumar Saranagi told reporters here.

India's Modi to visit US and meet Trump next week.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the US next week and meet President Donald Trump, the White House says. Other reports say Modi will attend a dinner hosted by the US president on the two-day trip. The dates of the official working visit have yet to be announced.
