India-Italy business ties, India Middle East Europe Economic Corridor get big boost.
Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy is visiting India from 11-12 April. He was accompanied by the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, and a large delegation of businesses, leading universities and research institutions. During the visit, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held delegation level talks with DPM and FM Tajani. Minister Tajani also met with the Commerce and Industry Minister (CIM). He called on President of India. Minister Bernini with Ministers of State of Science and Technology, and Education.

Right time for India, UAE to invest in bilateral ties: Parliamentarian.
This is the right time for India and the UAE to invest in the bilateral relationship as the two countries have the leadership with vision, a parliamentarian in the gulf country has said. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee, said that isolation was never a solution and nations must work together to overcome challenges facing the world.

'Zero-for-zero' tariff strategy under proposed India-US trade pact unlikely: Official.
A 'zero-for-zero' tariff strategy under the proposed bilateral trade agreement between India and the US is unlikely, as the two countries are at different levels of economic development, official sources said. Certain trade experts have suggested that India can propose a 'zero-for-zero' tariff strategy to the US for addressing America's reciprocal tariff hikes.

Bangladesh steps on land border trade preceded India's transshipment ban.
Bangladesh took several steps that adversely hit land border trade with India even before New Delhi moved to revoke transshipment facilities for Dhaka to export cargo to third countries via Indian land customs stations. Bangladesh's interim regime last month decided to close three land ports with India while suspending another citing lack of necessary infrastructure for operations.

India and Israel sign key agriculture deal to boost cooperation and food security.
India and Israel on Tuesday signed a comprehensive agriculture agreement with the aim of boosting bilateral agricultural collaboration and food security, and modernising farming practices. The agreement was signed in Delhi between Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Israel's Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Avi Dicter, who marked his first official visit to India in his current capacity.

European Union cashew nut imports soar as Indian shipments rise 8%.
Riding on surging cashew nut imports to the European Union, India has witnessed a modest 8 per cent rise in exports during the first quarter (Q1) of 2025. Vietnam accounted for 72 per cent of total EU imports. Cashew nut imports by the EU soared to an unprecedented level in Q1 2025, registering a record 42,850 tonnes valued at €273 million ($300 million). This marks a significant increase of 16 per cent in volume and 42 per cent in value compared with the same period in 2024, when 37,054 tonnes worth €193 million ($212 million) were imported, said J Rajmohan Pillai, Chairman of Beta Group, which owns the brand NutKing.

Sugar exports from India near 3 lakh tonnes, says AISTA.
India has exported 2.87 lakh tonnes (lt) of sugar till April 8 out of 10 lt quota permitted by the government in January in the ongoing 2024-25 season (October-September), out of which maximum quantity has been shipped to Somalia, All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA) said on Wednesday. The sugar despatch from mills for export, however, was 3.05 lt, as nearly 18,000 tonnes are in transit or under loading.

India terminates transshipment facility for Bangladesh to export goods to third countries.
The government has terminated the transshipment facility that allowed export cargo from Bangladesh to third countries using Indian land customs stations en route to ports and airports, according to a government circular. Indian exporters, mainly from the apparel sector, had earlier urged the government to withdraw this facility to the neighbouring country.
