No export of raw materials, value addition must happen in India: PM Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he cannot accept raw materials getting exported and finished products being shipped into the country, asserting that value additions must happen in India. Inaugurating the 'Utkarsh Odisha, Make in Odisha Conclave' in Bhubaneswar's Janata Maidan, Modi said he considers eastern India as the growth engine of the country, and the state plays an important role in it.

US President Trump calls for 'fair' trade ties with 'tariff maker' India.
US President Donald Trump has grouped India alongside China and Brazil as 'tremendous tariff makers', vowing to impose tariffs on countries he claims harm the United States. Govt upgrades platform to issue certificates of origin.
To simplify the certification process for exporters and enhance trade efficiency, the government Monday said it has upgraded its system of issuing electronically generated certificate of origin to help exporters. The document is important to claim duty concessions under free trade agreements as it proves where the goods originate.

India, Oman trade ministers discuss advancing FTA negotiations pact.
Trade ministers of India and Oman on Monday reviewed progress of the proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries and focused on advancing the negotiations for the pact. The agreement was discussed between Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Oman's Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef in Muscat.

Bangladesh adds nine potato import stations as prices drop and surplus grows.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has expanded the number of customs stations for potato imports, adding nine more to facilitate the entry of potatoes from Nepal and Bhutan. This decision aims to diversify the sources of potato imports and reduce reliance on India. The newly included customs stations are Rohonpur in Chapainawabganj, Sonahat in Kurigram, Dhanua Kamalpur in Jamalpur, Nakugaon in Sherpur, Gobrakura and Karaitoli in Mymensingh, and Tamabil, Zakiganj, and Sheola in Sylhet. Previously, imports were limited to four stations, including Benapole and Bhomra. The extension is in place until March, as per a recent gazette.

Govt may consider giving agri subsidies via direct benefit transfer: Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The government is trying to bring policy-level changes for simplifying agriculture, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said and indicated that providing subsidies on fertiliser, seed and farming equipment through direct benefit transfer could be considered in the future. In an interaction with farmers, who were invited to witness the Republic Day parade as special guests, at his residence here on Monday, the Agriculture and Rural Development Minister said the government spends up to Rs 2,00,000 crore on fertiliser subsidies.

IFAD Associate Vice President Shri Donal Brown meets Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi.
Mr. Donal Brown, Associate Vice President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), called on Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary of Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi today. During the meeting, Mr Brown appreciated India’s role as a founding member of IFAD, and longstanding and productive partnership with IFAD. Mr. Brown briefed the Secretary about IFAD’s collaborative projects with state governments, particularly in the North Eastern and Himalayan regions, focusing on building climate-resilient agricultural value chains; empowering women, youth, tribal communities; supporting marginalized farmers; and strengthening rural infrastructure.
