India and Qatar are likely to finalise the terms of reference for a bilateral trade agreement next month and once these are finalised, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal may visit Qatar, officials said on Monday. Goyal is also likely to meet EU trade commissioner MaroS Šefcovic Friday, even as the 13th round of India-EU free trade agreement talks are underway in New Delhi, they said.

India and the European Union (EU) on Monday started the next round of negotiations for the proposed free trade agreement (FTA), an official said. After the 13th round of talks, European Commissioner for Trade Maros Sefcovic will visit India on September 12 to take stock of the progress of negotiations with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, the official said.

Government think-tank Niti Aayog has recommended strategies and pathways to be adopted by government to make India self-sufficient, (Atmanirbhar) in pulses by 2030 and double the production of pulses by 2047.The report noted, India's pulses production is set to witness steady growth in the coming years with output projected to rise to 34.45 million tonnes (MT) by 2030 and 51.57 MT by 2047, up from 26.06 MT in 2022.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate cuts on dairy products, farm inputs, and food processing items will directly benefit over 10 crore dairy farmers and strengthen the cooperative sector, the Ministry of Cooperation said on Saturday.The restructuring addresses the inverted duty structure in fertiliser manufacturing and is expected to check price rise for farmers while ensuring timely availability of inputs during sowing seasons, the ministry said in a statement.
