Cabinet may discuss finance and market aid next week to boost exports.
The Cabinet is expected to discuss next week a proposal for an Export Promotion Mission (EPM), aimed at strengthening the country's export ecosystem through targeted financial and market support, according to officials. Structured around two key pillars--trade finance and market access, the mission aims to give exporters, especially in the MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) and labour-intensive sectors, a sustained competitive edge in global markets.

First shipment of new Chilean cherries will arrive soon in India.
The cherry import season in India kicks off this month, with the first shipment expected around October 20th, says Arun Uttamchandani, owner of Mumbai-based importer Pushpbhuj Impex. 'We import from multiple origins, including Australia, Chile, and the USA. The Chilean shipment marks the arrival of fresh cherries for the season, which will last until February. Australian cherries will follow early November, while the USA import season runs from late May through August.'

SEA estimates Gujarat groundnut crop at 46 lakh tonne despite 3 lakh hectare expansion.
Despite an increase of around 3 lakh hectares in area under groundnut cultivation in Gujarat, groundnut crop estimated to be around 46 lakh tonne (lt) during kharif 2025-26. This is same as that of 2024-25.

PM's Rs 35,440 crore farm push to seed self-reliance, nutrition: 100 districts to get focused agri boost under new schemes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two welfare schemes worth Rs.35,440 crore for the agriculture sector, aimed at empowering farmers in 100 identified districts for the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana and making India self-reliant in pulses production through Dalhan Atmanirbharta Mission. Speaking at the programme organised at Indian Agriculture Research Institute at Pusa, the prime minister emphasised that the country not only needs to produce enough for domestic consumption but also to feed the global market.

India developing into key growth engine while China decelerating steadily: IMF chief.
International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Wednesday praised India for developing into a key growth engine, amid changing global growth patterns. 'Global growth is forecast at roughly 3 percent over the medium term—down from 3.7 percent pre-pandemic. Global growth patterns have been changing over the years, notably with China decelerating steadily while India develops into a key growth engine,' said the IMF chief.

Government eyes to increase pulses production by 40% by 2030-31 crop year.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday said the government has set a target to increase pulses production by 40 percent to 350 lakh tonne by 2030-31 crop year. Recently, the Union Cabinet approved a six-year central scheme aimed at achieving self-sufficiency in pulses production, with a financial outlay of Rs 11,440 crore.

Russian region of Tatarstan positions itself as gateway for Indian business.
The Russian region of Tatarstan is eager to expand economic cooperation with India and could serve as a gateway for India to enter the local market, regional head Rustam Minnikhanov has said. Speaking ahead of TIME (Tatarstan-India Mutual Efficiency) Forum in the Kazan, Minnikhanov said Tatarstan is looking to increase exports of automobiles, helicopters, ships, and petrochemical products, identifying India as an important market.
