India developing into key growth engine while China decelerating steadily: IMF chief.
International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Wednesday praised India for developing into a key growth engine, amid changing global growth patterns. 'Global growth is forecast at roughly 3 percent over the medium term—down from 3.7 percent pre-pandemic. Global growth patterns have been changing over the years, notably with China decelerating steadily while India develops into a key growth engine,' said the IMF chief.

India-UK trade may surpass $112 billion target before 2030, says PM Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India and the United Kingdom may surpass their target of $112 billion in bilateral trade before 2030, calling the newly signed trade pact 'not just a trade agreement but a vision of shared progress and prosperity between New Delhi and London.'

Taiwan wants FTA with India, will reduce tariffs on Indian farms products, says Taiwanese economist.
A free trade agreement (FTA) between Taiwan and India would be mutually beneficial, which would not only boost ties but also create economic opportunities for both sides, Kristy Hsu, who is director of the Taiwan-ASEAN Studies Center at Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, has said. India will play a bigger role in global trade, especially in labour-intensive sectors, as it builds its supply chains, she said, adding that Taiwanese companies and their customers want to delink from China.

India’s chickpea imports from Australia may drop by over 50% next season.
India may not import more than 5 lakh tonnes of desi chickpeas (chana) from Australia during the next marketing season (November 2025-October 2026), as the harvest of the pulse in April 2026 could be higher. Besides, imports of yellow peas by India could be another discouraging factor, a Webinar on desi chickpeas update was told.

India will likely be the swing factor in global sugar market this season.
India will be the swing factor for the new sugar season, which began on October 1, with a likely surplus of 7 million tonnes (mt) in sugar production, industry analysts and experts say. However, research agency BMI, a unit of Fitch Solutions, said better-than-expected output in Brazil, a sharp upturn in Indian production, and weaker crude prices have contributed to an increasingly bearish sentiment through Q3 2025.

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal Visits Qatar to Reinforce India–Qatar Strategic Economic Partnership.
The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, paid an official visit to Doha, Qatar to co-chair the India–Qatar Joint Commission on Economic and Commercial Cooperation with H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar. This was the first meeting of the upgraded Joint Commission, following the decision taken during the visit of the Amir of Qatar to India in February 2025 to elevate the earlier Joint Working Group on Trade and Commerce. The visit reaffirmed both sides’ strong commitment to further strengthen bilateral economic engagement and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

US Congress urges Trump to reset and repair ties with India after tariff escalation.
A group of members of the United States Congress on Wednesday (Local Time) wrote to President Donald Trump urging him to take immediate steps to reset and repair the country's partnership with India, following recent tariff measures that they said have strained relations with the world's largest democracy. In their joint letter addressed to President Trump, the lawmakers said that 'recent actions by your administration have strained relations with the world's largest democracy, creating negative consequences for both countries,' and called for swift action to restore balance in the bilateral relationship.
