Govt eases rules for rice export to Europe.
Under the revised norms, exporters shipping rice to EU member states and European countries, namely the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, are permitted subject to issuance of certificate of inspection by the Export Inspection Council or Export Inspection Agency. However, for other European countries, the mandatory inspection certificate requirement has been temporarily waived for six months, until April 2, 2026.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today participated in the Rabi Workshop and Agricultural Advisory Dialogue held in Patna during his visit to Bihar. Addressing agricultural scientists, advisors, and farmers at the event, Shri Chouhan said, 'Agriculture is the backbone of India’s economy, and farmers are its soul. Serving farmers is akin to worshipping God.'

Issues with US need to be resolved, actively working on them, says EAM Jaishankar.
Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar on Sunday affirmed that India is trying to resolve the trade issues with the United States. He also reiterated that tariffs levied on India are 'unfair'.

APEDA's Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet attracts 530 global buyers and enables 4,600+ B2B meetings.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry participated as the Export Partner in the 4th edition of World Food India (WFI) 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, as per a press release by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. 'As Export Partner, APEDA organized the Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM), which attracted more than 530 international buyers from 68 countries, including leading supermarket chains such as Walmart, Nesto, Al Madina, Mustafa Singapore, and Choithram. Over 4,654 curated B2B meetings were held during the event, providing Indian exporters and startups an unprecedented platform to explore new markets, showcase innovative products, and establish long-term business linkages,' the release said.

UK PM Kier Starmer's Mumbai visit to focus on FTA implementation.
UK PM Keir Starmer's Mumbai visit next week, his first India trip in his official capacity, will bring to focus the growing economic partnership and implementation of the free trade agreement (FTA) at a time when the Trump administration has weaponised tariffs and sought additional concessions under the Indo-US trade pact. On October 9 in Mumbai, PM Narendra Modi and Starmer will take stock of the progress in diverse aspects of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in line with 'Vision 2035', according to officials familiar with the issue.

India allows exports of de-oiled rice bran after two-year ban.
India on Friday lifted its ban on exports of de-oiled rice bran with immediate effect, ending restrictions that had been in place for more than two years, the government said. Before the ban was imposed in July 2023, India exported 500,000 metric tons of de-oiled rice bran per year, worth about 10 billion rupees, mainly to Vietnam, Thailand, and other Asian countries.

Global conflicts test the resilience of Indian agricultural exports.
In September 2025, the US escalated pressure on India—urging the European Union to impose up to 100 per cent tariffs on Indian goods in a bid to curb Russian oil revenues. This move came shortly after America doubled its tariffs on India to 50 per cent, penalising New Delhi for importing Russian energy. These heavy-duty crosswinds now threaten Indian agricultural exports just as they were gathering momentum.

India’s H1 coffee export value up 15% at $1.05 bn.
India’s coffee exports in the first six months of the current financial year were up 15 per cent in value terms at $1.05 billion, on higher global prices. In the corresponding period last year, exports were $918 million.
